New UAE Resort Ushers in a New Era in the Middle East
Wynn Resorts recent issued an update on the construction of first integrated entertainment resort in the United Arab Emirates.
The United States-headquartered company announced that the ambitious project was more than half complete and they remain on target to open in 2027.
The project will change the face of luxury tourism in the UAE, and the economic ripples it generates will spread throughout the Middle East.
Situated 50 minutes from the Dubai International Airport in Ras Al Khaimah, this magnificent masterpiece of opulence will have 1,552 rooms and suites.
It will also have a wide range of restaurants, bars, conference centres and extensive gaming facilities, which will provide visitors with the best bespoke entertainment experience in the region.
The project will be pivotal in the UAE’s growing tourism and entertainment sector, and will play a key role in helping the country diversify its economy.
Economic Boost Through Employment
The Wynn Al Marjan Island project has created many jobs, with over 9,000 construction workers onsite and more than 100 trucks in operation daily.
Even after the buildings are finished, the resort will employ stewards, attendants, security personnel, accountants, event management staff and more.
These jobs will expand the local economy, boosting household and disposable income while stimulating demand for goods and services in Ras Al Khaimah.
The project has also attracted talent from overseas, thus boosting the skill levels in key areas such as design, architecture and many other sectors.
Diversifying Tourism
The project will spawn a new level of luxury tourism in the Middle East that caters to international clients and aligns perfectly with the UAE’s plans for its tourism sector.
The UAE has been trying to step out from the traditional tourism market to appeal to a niche segment of luxury travellers and high-net-worth individuals. This project will further its cause.
The resort recently received a licence from the General Commercial Gaming Regulation Authority (GCGRA) to operate a casino, which will attract tons of visitors each year.
The GCGRA is in the midst of establishing a formal licensing regulatory and framework for gaming, which will also extend into the online sector.
Many international gaming operators in the UAE already welcome Arab players, as evidenced by the customers who visit the best online casino in Dubai, but they are regulated by authorities in other jurisdictions.
By bringing control of the sector within its own borders, the UAE gaming market will generate massive revenue streams for the government.
Foreign Direct Investment
The Wynn project will make the UAE even more attractive for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), as international brands will be eager to establish strong roots there.
Technology companies will capitalise on the project to establish themselves in the Middle East before spreading their wings to other countries in the region looking to emulate the Emirates.
The construction and initial operation of the Wynn Al Marjan resort is a billion-dollar project with the funding coming from overseas into the UAE, injecting substantial foreign capital into the economy.
The investment will be spent directly on infrastructure and spur increased demand for local suppliers and services. The boom will continue when the resort opens.
International tourists will make the UAE an investment destination, leading to more hospitality, retail and entertainment projects that further bolster the economy.
Raising Ras Al Khaimah’s Global Profile
Among the UAE’s seven Emirates, Ras Al Khaimah has traditionally been left trailing by Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
However, Wynn Al Marjan Island is the beginning of a well-thought-out plan to boost Ras Al Khaimah’s popularity and brand it as a premier luxury and leisure destination.
The island is located strategically close to the airport and designed with world-class amenities that will attract visitors from Europe, Asia and beyond, playing a massive role in the UAE’s plans to draw 40 million tourists annually by 2030.
The resort will make Ras Al Khaimah a go-to destination for high-profile conferences, exhibitions and cultural events, further moving the UAE economy away from its dependence on energy revenues.
